Thanksgiving Morning - 2009

From the Book of Common Prayer...
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Across the nation this morning, Mothers, Grandmothers and others are waking to kick off preparations for the family feast. Turkeys and other entrees are being prepared for the oven. Balloons are being prepared for their journey down New York streets. Elsewhere, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Marines are letting their guard down long enough for a meal with their comrades. They're taking time out in a mess hall or even a foxhole to give thanks for the gracious provision of the Almighty.

Saints, Patriots and Pilgrims... Happy Thanksgiving wherever you may be this morning.
